Reading landscape :: art-geography cross-fertilization

Fri, 12 Aug 2016

I've been working with artist Flora Parrott over the last year on a project call "Reading Landscape" that we are presenting at the Royal Geographical Annual Conference next month. In short we want to produce a range of art outputs of a location/place, but integrate the field methods and outputs of both geographers and fine artists. Art-science cross-overs are not overly common and what was particularly unusual here was the integration of students from the Fine Art and Geography and Geology departments, ranging from foundation, to undergraduate, to MSc and PhD. It was an incredibly exciting exchange of techniques and perspectives.

Flora and I have recently had a brief summary of the project published on the HERG (Higher Education Research Group) blog titled Reading Landscape. So take a read and pop along to our session at the RGS where some of our students will be presenting.
